NAME: ADRIAN BROOKS

JOB TITLE: CHAIRMAN

 

BIOG: Adrian Brooks’ early career involved pioneering aluminium tower structures and products. He invented the world’s first light weight aluminium truss system Astralite, which soon became industry standard in the entertainment, leisure, retail and architectural markets. He founded Litestructures to build on the reputation of Astralite and went on to create many notable ‘firsts’, such as the world’s premier stage decking system Litedeck and Astralive, the first system to incorporate live tracking to carry mains power.

Developing and extending these innovative concepts kept him in touch with the concert and touring marketplace, and he went on to build the LS-Live Studio in 2005. Adrian is continually looking for new opportunities to develop the West Yorkshire facility.

SKILLS: Business development, commercial knowledge, management, staging and trussing product knowledge.

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Real ale, music and anything with an engine!

NAME: BEN BROOKS

JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR

 

BIOG: Adrian Brooks’ son Ben cut his teeth building stages for festivals and galas during the weekends whilst at school. Ben committed wholeheartedly to the family business (then named LiteStructures) after completing his GCSE’s, beginning in the hire department prepping jobs, working on events and small tours, then working on the permanent installation side of the operation. He went on to run the Studio and Hire side of the business, and in 2010 took over the management of newly re-branded rental outfit LS-Live. He is now Director of LS-Live, overseeing its Stage & Set Construction, Equipment Rental and Studio divisions.

SKILLS: Project management, logistics, staging and trussing product knowledge, stage and set design and build, commercial knowledge of the touring marketplace, sales

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Anything with an engine!

 

 

NAME: SCOTT MATTHEWS

JOB TITLE: STUDIO COORDINATOR

 

BIOG: Scott was a General Merchandise Manager for Asda before serving in the RAF Regiment for 5 years as a Gunner. Following this Scott studied Live Events Production at Backstage Academy and successfully gained an FDa in this field. Upon his graduation Scott took the role of Studio Coordinator, running the studio alongside Bullet, learning how to assist the bands and artists who come through the doors. Scott now has the experience to run all 5 studios on Production Park.

SKILLS: Customer service, communication, project management, organised, organising crew and equipment

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Football ( Leeds United), Cars, Music, sharpening pencils.

NAME: ADAM ‘BULLET’ BETTLEY

JOB TITLE: STUDIO MANAGER

 

BIOG: Bullet gained a BA HONS in Music Technology and Sound Recording Techniques at Huddersfield University. He joined LS-Live (then Litestructures) in 2006 and worked mainly in the hire department, preparing jobs and rigging stages around the world. In his spare time he spent many hours helping out in the studio gaining experience of all the aspects of productions and their requirements in the studio, which then led him to become the Studio Co-Ordinator. Bullet has now progressed to a more senior operations role where he manages studio and staging projects on site.

SKILLS: Project management, team leader, product knowledge.

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Movies, music, games, socialising, holidays and, of course, looking after little Pellet.

IF YOU COULD BE IN ANY BAND: Prodigy.

NAME: JESS WOODWARD

JOB TITLE: HIRE AND SET MANAGER

 

BIOG:  Jess joined LS-Live (then Litestructures) straight after leaving high school in 2003 as a stepping stone job until she joined the forces, but two years later she was still here and moved across to the events side of the business where she learned her strength of lifting decks! She then became Hire Co-ordinator in 2007, meaning she quotes equipment rental projects and overseas their delivery.

SKILLS:  Working to tight deadlines, product knowledge, organising crew and equipment, moaning, putting up with Ben.

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Live music, watching motorbike racing, riding her motorbike (only when sunny!), beer festivals, Sailor Jerry Rum, camping in the rain and watching people fall over.

NAME: DEBBIE POWELL

JOB TITLE: HIRE CO-ORDINATOR

 

BIOG:  Debbie has a Degree in History & Politics and graduated from Leeds Met after studying most of the subject at Manchester Uni. Since then Debbie has been working in the Live Events Industry for the past five years. Now she is at LS-Live, her role is office based and involves processing orders, dealing with clients, quotes for hire and overseas delivery of goods.

SKILLS:  Product knowledge, organised, efficient, tidy, bossing the lads around in the warehouse.

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Gin & Tonic, running, going to the gym, kayaking, reading, afternoon drinking in vintagey pubs, any sport apart from Cricket.

 

IF YOU COULD BE IN ANY BAND: Stone Roses

NAME: SCOTT BRODIE

JOB TITLE: WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR

 

BIOG:  Scott has an NVQ in Warehouse Distribution and Machinery Operations which has helped him in his role at LS-Live since December 2014. Before LS-live he was building radiators and boliers for a company called Stelrad and worked for Great Bear Distribution which has been replaced by Production Park offices and studios. His role at LS-Live involves running the warehouse and also working on pre-builds in LS-Live Studio 001.

SKILLS:  Forklift truck driving, stage building, organised, punctual, Rugby Union.

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Rugby Union, Afternoon drinking in Doncaster, family time with his son and Daughter.

NAME: JACQUI BROOKS

JOB TITLE:  PAYROLL AND H&S MANAGER

 

BIOG: Whilst studying a BSc Honours degree in Home Economics at Manchester University, Jacqui met Adrian Brooks, a fellow student. They married in 1979 and set up their first business together in 1980. Over the next seven years they had three children, Lee, Ria and Ben. Jacqui returned to work as a lecturer in 1989 and then became a founder member of Litestructures (GB) Ltd in 1991.Over the years Jacqui has worked in almost every department in the business and has now settled at LS-Live in payroll and H&S.

SKILLS:  Organisation, people management, Health & Safety, customer service, account management, forward-planning, and chief biscuit and tea provider!

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Jacqui enjoys her home life and is probably at her happiest pottering around her garden. Travel, swimming and entertaining are also top of her agenda. 

NAME: JOSH WILSON

JOB TITLE:  WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE

 

BIOG: Josh studied Music Production and Sound recording at Huddersfield University whilst working at Footlocker for 3.5 years. Josh loves his gaming and so he moved onto working at Game where he stayed for 8 months. Realising music is his true interest he then applied for work experience at LS-live warehouse where he worked hard for 2 weeks before getting a full time job with us.

SKILLS:  Piano (played since the age of 7 and is now a professional pianist), Guitar.

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Josh loves listening to music, playing instruments, watching films, eating food and socialising with his friends.

FAVE BAND: Josh loves Blackstone Cherry so much that he even has the bands logo tattooed on the back of his leg!

NAME: BRYAN FARRAND

JOB TITLE:  WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE

 

BIOG: Bryan studied Technical Theatre for 2 years at Pendleton College before going to Manchester to work as a Sound Engineer. He quickly moved to Backstage Academy to study Live Events Production which lead to a full time job at LS-Live.

SKILLS:  Being able to reach things in high places.

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Bryan loves to play Rugby League and in his spare time he is an avid gamer with his favourit gaming being GTA.

FAVE BAND: Bring Me The Horizon is Bryans favourit and he had the pleasure of recently working with them on their tour as they rehearsed in Studio 001.

NAME: CALLUM SHORT

JOB TITLE: WAREHOUSE CO-ORDINATOR

 

BIOG: Originally from Derbyshire, Callum moved to the coast in North Devon to study Architecture at Petroc College for three years. There he got involved in various local bands and venues. Following his studies, he took a year out to work at a surf hire lodge, and decided he wanted to pursue a career in the music and events industry. He applied for the FdA Live Events Production Park on site here at training centre Backstage Academy and was offered a job at LS-Live towards the end of the course.

PERSONAL INTERESTS: Music (the heavier the better), swimming, gaming, horror films, surfing and cider!
