LS-Live is the home of Backstage Academy, a unique education centre designed to deliver what the industry so urgently needs; high quality, relevant and practical training in different backstage skills and entertainment technology.

Created and taught by leading industry professionals with real life experience spanning the fields of concert production, TV, theatre, film and corporate hospitality, Backstage Academy’s range of courses ensure students learn only the most applicable skills, meaning they leave ready for work.

Through its partnership with LS-Live, Backstage Academy is perfectly positioned to keep up to date with developments in the skills and technology demanded by the backstage sector, giving students a head start when they come to commence or further their careers; it’s essentially an industry based academy working with the education sector.

As an independent institution, the Academy is open to all and takes a unique modular approach to courses in order to tailor learning to suit individuals, from simply studying for fun right up to full-time study on our 15-month Foundation Degree in Live Events Production.

Both the short courses and FdA present opportunities for students to gain diverse and important qualifications ranging from the Event Safety Passport and Working at Height, to courses in Apple and Avid based technologies, and 3D visualisation software.

We are always looking to expand our network of industry ‘supporters’, both individuals and companies. Individuals might want to pass on their experience via tutoring courses or being a guest speaker, or put themselves forward as a trustee. Manufacturers may want to loan equipment or engage us to deliver their training, or indeed have us write new training for them.
