1983
AstraLite Original 3 is launched – the world’s first modular trussing system. The AstraLite range is showcased at both ABTT and PLASA in London during this year. BLite (now A02) is added to the range to give greater flexibility and lower cost options.
1984
QuatraLite (AO4) is added to the range, in response to customer requests for even greater loading capacity.
1985
The Tube, the cult UK music TV show hosted by Jools Holland and Paula Yates, features an incredible double decker set constructed entirely from AstraLite.
1986
MiniLite product is launched – satisfying the need for smaller and more transportable trussing systems.
1987
The company moves to a new 2000m² premises in Manor Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire.
1988
AstraDeck is launched – the first staging system designed by us and the forerunner to LiteDeck.
1989
Litestructures launch the BiLite MiniRig (GigRig™) finding instant popularity with mobile DJs. The concept of a “complete lighting rig in a bag” is a real winner.
1990
The company restructures and moves from its long-term home in Leeds to Wakefield in West Yorkshire, where new premises were acquired allowing for the continued expansion of products and services.
1991
Litestructures launch the LiveLite range, the first ever trussing system to integrate an integrated lighting track.
1992
Litestructures wins stand of the year award at PLASA for the incredible “Wizard of Truss” spectacular. MaxiLite and MegaLite ranges are launched.
1993
Litestructures moves to new 2000m² premises in Durkar, Wakefield, West Yorkshire and invests significantly in CAD/CNC technologies. As a result the Litestructures rigging range of professional truss accessories are launched later that year.
1994
Litestructures develop the LiveLite range to include Tubetrack universal. This gives world leading compatibility with thousands of lighting fixtures.
1995
300 series, the first truss to incorporate optimised diagonal paths and “imbedded” connectors is launched at PLASA. Litestructures Hire Department is opened.
1996
LiteDeck, the world’s first aluminium space frame decking system, is shown at PLASA.
1997
ShopLite is launched to universal acclaim at the Total Design Show in London, England.
1998
Litestructures Deutschland is formed as a subsidiary company to handle sales in Germany, our largest export market, and to provide warehousing and distribution for the wider European market place. Litestructures moves to a newly built, state-of-the art 4000m² premises in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire.
1999
Litestructures develops a modular range of moving stage automations, the first of which debuts on tour with Boyzone.
2000
Litestructures launch LitePro, an innovative new trussing range to include the TaperLok connector, along with automated TIG welding techniques.
2001
The LiteTower line is added to the LitePro range, allowing the construction of any combination of modular heavy duty roof systems.
2002
ChromaDeck, the world’s first modular LED Dancefloor, is launched at PLASA by Litestructures in association with Pulsar Light of Cambridge.
2003
Litestructures Romania is formed. New premises are acquired for the efficient engineering and manufacture of our standard products.
2004
Worldwide sales of LiteDeck exceed 30,000 units.
2005
The opening of Litestructures Studios and renovation of the complex takes the total area at South Kirkby to in excess of 8000m² with new office suites and pre-build areas. Litestructures win TPI Award for Favourite Set Construction Company.
2006
Digitruss, the world’s first trussing track system to carry both power at data is launched at PLASA. Litestructures win TPI award for an unprecedented second year running.
2007
Litestructures launches the LiteMast and LiteBarrier range of products, in direct response to customer demand.
2008
LiteSwitch introduced for direct control of all aspects of DigiTruss, ChromaDeck, Litestructures trussing and staging systems. Litestructures Romania moves to new 3000m2 facility, and production is planned to give further increase in capacity.
